Parish Spotlight

We are called to Evangelize and to perform Works of Mercy....

We are forming a new group called the Angels of Mercy.  This is an outreach group that will help with various activites, such as ministering to the homebound and supporting local discipleship groups. Please sign up in the vestibule if you can help.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:  If you have been an Extraordinary Minister or would be willing to be, please help us update our records by marking the list in the vestibule.

Daily Mass and Sacrament of the Sick:  On Friday, July 23, 2021, the 8:30am daily Mass will be held in the Church.  During Mass we will have the Sacrament of the Sick for those who are ill, those who have a serious condition, or those of advance age, with a brunch served afterward in the Hall.

Pope Francis has designated July 25, 2021, as the 1st World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly. We will present a prayer for grandparents written by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Religious Education Registration:  Religious Education classes will begin in September!   Registration will be held August 7th after the Hispanic Mass, and August 8th and 15th at noon in the Church Hall. The cost is $25 for one student or $50 per family. Registration fees increase September 1st.  Please bring a copy of your child's baptism certificate with you at registration if one is not already on file with the church.

Pancake Breakfast, July 25th:  We will have an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Sunday, July 25th.  The cost is $5.  Please sign up in the vestibule if you plan to attend.

Spanish Small Group:  Beginning Wed, Aug. 4 and every Wednesday in August, there will be a small group class on the “Presence”, Jesus in the Eucharist, in Spanish. It will start after the 5:30 Spanish Mass on Wed. It will last from 6:00-7:30PM and be in the Parish Hall. Food will be provided. Sign up in the Church entrance.

St John Craft Fair is looking for Vendors:  St John will host a craft fair on Nov 20th.  Sign up now if you are interested in being a vendor at this big event.

Conference for the Year of the Parish and the Eucharist
Bishop Raica has announced that the upcoming Conference for the Year of the Parish and the Eucharist will be Friday night, August 13th, beginning at 7:00 PM with Eucharistic adoration in the church at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville with a Eucharistic procession to follow (see the schedule below).
 
On Saturday, Bishop Raica will celebrate Mass at 9:00 AM in the piazza outside of the church at the Shrine, followed by speakers in both English and Spanish. 
 
There will be food trucks for lunch on Saturday and plenty of opportunity for Confession and to explore the beautiful grounds of the Shrine.  Make your plans now to join us there.  Bishop Raica hopes to see as many of you as possible!
